Temporary roles: roles with an expiry date
A role expires on its own after a while – or comes back after a while. By rule in the dashboard or with /temprole.
With temporary roles you give a role only for a certain time – for example "Guest" for 7 days or "Event winner" for a month. After that, yurna removes it on its own. It also works the other way round: a role is taken away and comes back after the time is up.
You'll find the page under Dashboard → Temporary roles (/dashboard/<server>/temporaere-rollen).
In the dashboard#
- Click Add rule.
- Choose the Role.
- Choose what happens:
- Role expires – when the role is given (by hand, by another bot or by yurna), yurna removes it again after the duration.
- Role comes back – when the role is taken away, yurna gives it back after the duration.
- Enter the Duration in minutes, hours or days (at most 365 days) and click Save.
Use the switch in the list to pause a rule. Running timers shows when which role expires. End now runs the timer immediately, Cancel timer leaves the role as it is.
Note
yurna needs Manage Roles and must be above the role in the role list. Timers are stored in the database – nothing gets lost when yurna restarts.
If you remove the role yourself before it expires (or give it back yourself), its timer is done.
How many rules?#
| New Moon | Half Moon | Full Moon | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rules | 5 | 25 | 100 |
With /temprole you give roles for a while without a limit.
By command#
| Command | What it does | Important options |
|---|---|---|
/temprole add <user> <role> <duration> | gives the role for the duration | duration: e.g. 30m, 2h, 7d, 1w, 1d12h; mode: take removes the role for the duration |
/temprole remove <user> <role> | ends the timer right away | – |
/temprole list [user] | shows running timers | user: only this member |
You need "Manage Roles", and the role must be below your highest role.
Common questions#
What happens if the member leaves the server?#
The timer lapses when it is due – the role is gone with leaving anyway.
Does a rule override the duration from /temprole?#
No. A timer from /temprole keeps its duration, even if there is a rule for the role.
How exact is the expiry?#
yurna checks every 30 seconds.
