Join & rules
Rules with an accept button, automatic roles on join and sticky roles for returning members – all free.
The Join & rules page brings together three features for new and returning members. Everyone gets the right roles right away, and returning members don't need to be sorted again. All three are free on every plan:
- Rules – a rules message with a button that members use to accept the rules and receive a role.
- Autorole – roles every new member gets automatically, separately for humans and bots.
- Sticky roles – anyone who leaves and comes back gets their roles and nickname back.
In the dashboard#
In the dashboard sidebar, open Welcome & members → Join & rules (/dashboard/<server>/beitritt). At the top, a tile for each area shows its current state (On, Off or Incomplete), with the Rules, Acceptances, Autorole and Sticky roles tabs below. All tabs share one save bar, so you can switch between them without losing your input and save once at the end.
Rules with acceptance#
- Open the Rules tab and turn on Turn on rule acceptance.
- Choose the Channel (text or announcement channel) and the Role after accepting.
- Optional: change the Button label. Without your own text, it reads "Accept rules" in your server's language.
- Optional: turn on Ask again when the rules change. When you post changed rules, yurna removes the role from everyone who hasn't accepted the new version yet.
- Write your rules in the Rules message area. You can use plain text and embeds, just like in announcements.
- Click Save at the bottom.
- Under Preview & publish, click Post to Discord.
If the message is already in the channel, the button reads Update message – yurna then edits the existing message instead of sending a new one. If you switch channels, yurna removes the old message. What gets posted is always the saved version, so save your changes first.
In the rules message you can use the placeholders {server} (server name) and {mitglieder} (current member count).
Warning
yurna needs the Manage Roles permission and must be above the role it hands out in the role list. In the channel, yurna needs View Channel, Send Messages and Embed Links.
Acceptances#
The Acceptances tab shows who accepted the rules and which Version. Use Search member to find someone by name, nickname or user ID. That way you can always prove that someone confirmed the rules.
Autorole#
- Open the Autorole tab and turn on Turn on autorole.
- Under Roles for humans, pick up to 10 roles.
- Optional: under Roles for bots, pick up to 10 roles for bots that someone invites.
- Optional: under Delay, set how many seconds yurna waits (0 to 3600). The quick picks offer Instantly, 30 s, 1 min, 5 min and 10 min.
- Save.
Good to know:
- Autorole applies to new joins from the moment you turn it on – it isn't retroactive.
- Bots always get their roles immediately; the delay only applies to humans.
- If yurna restarts while a delay is running, that delay is dropped.
- If you've enabled Discord's rules screening or onboarding (membership screening), yurna waits until the member has passed it.
- Roles with admin permissions and roles managed by an integration are blocked – this also applies to the rule-acceptance role.
Sticky roles#
- Open the Sticky roles tab and turn on Turn on sticky roles.
- Optional: under Exceptions, set roles that are never remembered – punishment or event roles, for example.
- Set the Retention in days (1 to 365, default 30). A daily clean-up removes older entries.
- Save.
When someone leaves, yurna remembers their roles and nickname. If they come back within the retention period, yurna restores both. The nickname is only set if the member doesn't have one yet and yurna is allowed to manage nicknames. The Remembered members tile shows how many entries are currently stored.
The following are never restored:
- managed roles (bots, integrations, server boosters),
- roles at or above yurna's highest role,
- roles with admin permissions (e.g. Administrator, Ban, Manage Roles),
- your exceptions.
Warning
If you save with sticky roles turned off, yurna immediately deletes all remembered entries for this server.
By command#
All three areas live in /join. You need "Manage Server". Options you leave out stay unchanged; - resets a text to the default.

Common questions#
The button replies that it isn't set up – why?#
Rule acceptance is turned off or the role no longer exists.
Why is "Post to Discord" greyed out?#
There are unsaved changes, rule acceptance is off, or the channel or role is missing.
Why aren't roles being assigned?#
Check Manage Roles and the position of yurna's role in the role list.
Can I use rule acceptance and verification together?#
They serve almost the same purpose. Ideally use only one, or give out different roles with each. Don't hand out a role via autorole that this step is meant to unlock.
