Announcements: scheduled messages & social feeds

Schedule one-off or recurring messages and automatically announce new videos, posts and streams in your server.

DashboardPremiumMessagesAutomation

The announcement hub brings two things together: scheduled messages that yurna posts at a set time, and social feeds that automatically announce new content from YouTube, Reddit, Bluesky, RSS/Atom or Twitch in a channel. Your server stays up to date even when you're not online.

In the dashboard#

In the dashboard sidebar, open Content & automations → Announcements (/dashboard/<server>/ankuendigungen). There you'll find the Scheduled and Feeds tabs. The feature is available on every plan; the limits depend on your plan.

Scheduled messages#

  1. Open the Scheduled tab and click Schedule message.
  2. Enter a Name. It's just for your overview and doesn't appear in Discord.
  3. Choose the Channel.
  4. Under Schedule, set the Frequency, the Time and the Time zone. Next runs shows you right away when yurna will post.
  5. Design the Content: text, embeds and, if you like, role pings. A live preview appears on the right.
  6. Save.

Send now posts a message immediately as a test – the schedule stays unchanged.

FrequencyWhat you set
OnceDate and time (not in the past)
DailyTime
WeeklyOne or more weekdays and a time
MonthlyDay of the month (1–31) and a time. If a month is shorter, yurna posts on its last day.
IntervalStart on, Start at and "Every … minutes" (at least 15 minutes)

The available time zones are Europe/Berlin, Europe/Vienna, Europe/Zurich, Europe/London, UTC, America/New_York and America/Los_Angeles.

Placeholders in scheduled messages:

PlaceholderReplaced with
{ping}the selected role pings
{server}the server name
{mitglieder}the current member count
{datum}the date at the time of sending
{uhrzeit}the time of sending

If you select role pings without using {ping}, yurna puts the mentions at the start of the message. Only the selected roles are pinged (up to 10) – never @everyone, @here or individual users. Discord never pings from inside embeds.

When something goes wrong:

  • If sending fails three times in a row, yurna pauses the message automatically. You'll see the last error right in the list.
  • If yurna was offline for a while and missed a run, that run isn't made up – the next one is scheduled instead.
  • Paused messages stay saved and continue once you resume them.

Social feeds#

  1. Open the Feeds tab and click Add feed.
  2. Choose the Type and enter the source:
    • YouTube – @handle, channel ID (UC…) or channel link. No API key needed.
    • RSS/Atom – the full feed address (https://…).
    • Reddit – the subreddit name, e.g. r/discordapp.
    • Bluesky – handle (name.bsky.social) or profile link. Public posts are announced.
    • Twitch – login name or channel link. yurna announces when the stream starts.
  3. Click Check. yurna shows you the name it found, the number of entries and the latest entry.
  4. Optional: enter a Display name. If left empty, yurna uses the name from the feed.
  5. Choose the Channel and adjust the Announcement template. Restore default resets the template.
  6. Save.

When you save, yurna remembers the existing entries. Only items that appear afterwards are announced – older entries aren't posted retroactively.

Template placeholders:

PlaceholderMeaning
{ping}the selected role pings
{title}title of the new entry
{url}link to the entry
{author}author or channel
{feed}the feed's display name
{image}the entry's image, e.g. for an embed

Twitch feeds also offer the Live role during the stream: members whose Discord status is streaming this Twitch channel get the role, and yurna removes it after the stream. The member must have connected Twitch to their Discord account.

Note

Twitch feeds only work once Twitch has been enabled for yurna. Until then, Twitch is marked "soon" and existing Twitch feeds are resting.

The limits count every entry you've created, including paused ones. Once you hit the limit, you can't add more. If your server moves to a smaller plan, the oldest active entries keep running up to the limit. All others show Resting (plan) and start again as soon as your plan allows it. Current values are listed under Premium plans.

By command#

Everything also works with /announce. You need "Manage Server". Options you leave out stay unchanged; - clears a field. In texts, \n starts a new line.

Common questions#

yurna says it's missing permissions in the channel – what's missing?#

yurna needs View Channel, Send Messages and Embed Links.

"There's no RSS or Atom feed at this address" – what now?#

Check the address. Many sites serve their feed at a separate address such as /feed or /rss. /announce feed check lets you test it quickly.

Why is an address "blocked"?#

For security reasons, yurna doesn't fetch addresses on local or private networks. Feeds larger than 2 MB are rejected as well.

The test doesn't arrive – why?#

If yurna is busy or offline at the moment, the test message is sent as soon as the bot is reachable again.

Are old videos or posts announced later?#

No. yurna only announces what appears after you saved the feed.
