Server log: everything that happens on your server
A searchable timeline of all events – deleted messages, joins, roles, channels, bans and more. Always on, even without a log channel.
The server log stores what yurna observes on your server and shows it as a timeline in the dashboard. It’s always on and doesn’t need a log channel. That way you can look up afterwards who deleted a message, changed a role or created a channel.
In the dashboard#
Where to find it#
Open Moderation & safety → Logs → Server log (/dashboard/<server>/serverlog). At the top you switch between the tabs Server log, Event logs and Change log. There’s nothing to set up – entries appear as soon as something happens.
What gets recorded#
Entries are grouped into categories:
- Messages – deleted, edited, bulk deleted, pinned messages changed
- Members – joined, left, updated (e.g. nickname, roles)
- Moderation – kick, timeout, ban, unban, AutoMod actions, Shield incidents
- Roles, Channels (including threads), Voice channels (joined, left, moved, server mute)
- Invites, Emojis & stickers, Server (server settings, scheduled events)
Filters, details and export#
- Filters: categories as toggles, search in title and content, user (name or ID), event, channel and time range (From / To). Reset filters shows everything again.
- Details: clicking an entry shows the people involved (Done by and Affected), Before / after for changes, the content of deleted or edited messages and attachments. Only this person filters to one member, Open in Discord jumps to the spot.
- Export: Export downloads the filtered entries as a spreadsheet (CSV) or as JSON.
The timeline with filters, details and export is only available in the dashboard.
Privacy#
yurna only stores message content if Message deleted or Message edited is turned on in the event logs. Otherwise the entry says “Content not stored”. Old entries are deleted automatically once the retention period is over.
Premium#
How long entries are kept depends on your plan:
| New Moon | Half Moon | Full Moon | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Retention | 7 days | 30 days | 180 days |
The current retention is shown at the top of the page as “… days of history”.
By command#
You can also read the server log right in Discord – the same entries as on the page, newest first, 10 per page. You need "Manage Server"; only you see the reply.
| Command | What it does | Important options |
|---|---|---|
/logs serverlog | shows the server log: time, event, channel or name, who did it and who it affected | category: e.g. messages, members, moderation; type: one kind of event (Discord suggests matching ones, only those of the chosen category); user: only entries by or about this member; page: which page (from 1) |
/logs view | shows the change log – who changed what in the dashboard or by command –, 20 per page, newest first | page: which page (from 1) |
/logs serverlog only shows what is still kept (see above – depends on your plan); the reply names the retention. Content, before/after and the export are in the dashboard via the link below the list.
Which events are also sent to a Discord channel is set with /logs set, /logs disable and /logs list – see Event logs.
Common questions#
Why does an entry say “We don’t know who did it”?#
yurna needs the View Audit Log permission to show who triggered an event.
Why doesn’t yurna know a message’s old text?#
The message was older than the bot’s last restart, or Message deleted / Message edited is off in the event logs. yurna only knows the content of messages it has seen itself.
Why won’t an attachment open?#
Discord attachment links expire after a while; deleted attachments often can’t be retrieved anymore.
Where can I see who changed something in the dashboard?#
In the Change log – see Change log. The server log shows what happens on the server.
How long are entries kept?#
7, 30 or 180 days depending on your plan. After that yurna deletes them automatically.
