Case files: warnings, timeouts, kicks and bans
Every moderation action becomes a numbered case – with history, notes and revoking. Via command, in the dashboard or directly in Discord.
Quick look
This is how it looks in Discord – with sample data.
A shield against scams and spam.
Scam links, spam waves or a raid at three in the morning: yurna steps in before your team wakes up and files everything in the case file.

A scam link comes in. Step 1 of 3
Case files collect every moderation action on your server as a case with a running number (#1, #2, …). You can always see who was warned, timed out, kicked or banned, when, by whom and why – and edit or revoke cases later.
Cases come from different sources:
- Command – e.g.
/warn,/timeout,/member ban - Dashboard – via “New case”
- Report – when the team closes a report with “Warn” or “Timeout”
- Escalation – automatically through escalation steps
- Shield – timeouts, kicks and bans from the Shield
- Directly in Discord – bans, unbans, kicks and timeouts done directly in Discord or with another bot (yurna needs “View Audit Log” for this)
Possible case types: warning, timeout, kick, ban, temporary ban, unban, note, trade ban and softban.
In the dashboard#
How to set it up#
- Open Moderation & safety → Case files (
/dashboard/<server>/fallakte). - Switch to the Settings tab.
- Choose a Log channel – every new or revoked case is posted there.
- Check DM on punishment (default: on). The member then gets the reason, duration and warning points by DM – for kicks and bans before the action.
- Set after how many days warning points expire (default 90, 0 = never).
- Give yurna the Discord permissions it needs: Moderate Members (timeouts), Kick Members, Ban Members and View Audit Log. yurna’s role must be above the roles of the members you want to moderate.
Case files at a glance#
At the top you see the stats Total cases, Active sanctions, Open reports and Active escalation steps. Below are four tabs: Cases, Reports, Unban appeals and Settings.
- Cases – all cases, newest first. Filter by search text (reason,
#numberor user ID), member, moderator, type, status, source and time range. - Open a case – shows the people involved, reason, duration, evidence (e.g. links to reported messages), internal notes and the history. You can change the reason, add notes for the team and revoke the case.
- Revoke case – the case stays on record but no longer counts (neither do its points). If the sanction is still running, yurna also lifts it in Discord (removes the timeout or unbans).
- New case – member ID, action (warning, note, trade ban, timeout, kick, temporary ban, ban), reason, warning points (0–100, default 1) and a duration where needed. The case is applied immediately. You can only pick timeout, kick and ban if you have the matching Discord permission.
- A member’s record – under Welcome & members → Members, open a member: the Record card shows all of that person’s cases, their active warning points, running sanctions and reports about and by them.
The former “Warnings” page is now part of case files: old links lead straight to the case list filtered to warnings.
What happens when you take action#
- yurna creates the case.
- The member gets a DM (if “DM on punishment” is on). Notes and unbans don’t send a DM.
- yurna applies the action in Discord.
- The case is posted in the log channel.
- If the case carries warning points, yurna checks the escalation steps.
If step 3 fails (missing permissions, role too low), the case is revoked automatically with a note – so no false record is left behind. yurna lifts temporary bans on its own when they expire, even if the bot restarted in between. A trade ban is a record-only entry and blocks trades with the Pokémon bot.
By command#
Take action with the short everyday commands /ban, /kick, /softban, /unban, /warn, /timeout, /untimeout, /note and /modlogs – or all together under /member. Right-click a member (Apps) to Warn, Timeout or open the Case file. The case file settings, escalation steps, reports and unban appeals are controlled with /moderation.
Actions#
| Command | What it does | Important options |
|---|---|---|
/ban <user> [duration] | bans a member – with duration as a temporary ban | reason, delete_days (0–7) |
/softban <user> | bans and unbans right away: messages gone, the member may rejoin by invite | delete_days (default 1), reason |
/kick <user> | kicks a member | reason |
/unban <user_id> | lifts a ban (suggests banned users) | reason |
/note <user> <text> | internal note, no DM | – |
/modlogs <user> | case history of a member | – |
/warn <user> <reason> | warns a member | points: warning points (0–100, default 1, 0 = note only) |
/warns remove <user> <id> | revokes a warning | id: case number or old warning ID |
/warns list <user> | shows active warnings and warning points | – |
/warns clear <user> | revokes all of a member’s active warnings | – |
/timeout <user> <minutes> | times a member out | minutes: 1–40320 (up to 28 days), reason |
/untimeout <user> | removes the timeout and marks running timeout cases as revoked | reason |
/member ban <user> | bans a member | reason, delete_days: delete messages from the last 0–7 days |
/member tempban <user> <duration> | temporary ban | duration: e.g. 30m, 12h, 7d, 2w; reason, delete_days |
/member unban <user_id> | lifts a ban | reason |
/member kick <user> | kicks a member | reason |
/member history <user> | case history: active points, running sanctions, the last 15 cases | – |
/member note <user> <text> | internal note about a member, no DM | – |
/member tradeban <user> | trade ban | duration (empty = permanent), reason |
/member case show <number> | shows a case | – |
/member case reason <number> <reason> | changes a case’s reason | – |
/member case revoke <number> | revokes a case and lifts a running timeout or ban | reason: why |
/member case note <number> <text> | adds an internal note to a case (like “Note” in the dashboard case file) – the member doesn’t see it | text: up to 1000 characters |
Who can do what? /warn, /warns, /note, /modlogs, /timeout and /untimeout need “Moderate Members”, ban and unban “Ban Members”, kick “Kick Members”. history, note, tradeban and case are open to all moderators – anyone who can moderate members, manage the server, kick or ban; revoking a running ban also needs “Ban Members”.
Entering a duration: a plain number means minutes. Otherwise combine m, h, d and w, e.g. 1d12h. Temporary bans and trade bans last at most one year, timeouts at most 28 days.
Setting up the case file#
You need “Manage Server” for /moderation. If you leave an option out, it stays unchanged.
| Command | What it does | Important options |
|---|---|---|
/moderation settings | shows the current state or changes the settings | log-channel, report-channel, clear-channel (remove the log, report or appeal channel), points-decay-days (0 = never), tiers (escalation steps on/off), dm-on-punish, reports (on/off), appeals (on/off), appeal-channel, appeal-questions (separated by |, - = default), appeal-wait-hours, appeal-cooldown-days |
/moderation tier add <points> <action> | adds or replaces an escalation step | duration: e.g. 60m, 1d |
/moderation tier remove <points> | removes an escalation step | – |
/moderation tier list | lists all escalation steps | – |
/moderation reports list | shows open reports | – |
/moderation reports claim <report> | claims a report | – |
/moderation reports resolve <report> | closes a report as resolved – optionally with a warning or timeout as a new case, like in the dashboard | action: warn or timeout; points (0–100, default 1), duration (default 60m), reason (default: the report reason) |
/moderation reports reject <report> | rejects a report | – |
/moderation appeals list | shows open unban appeals | – |
/moderation appeals accept <appeal> | accepts an appeal and unbans | reply: message, invite: send an invite |
/moderation appeals reject <appeal> | rejects an appeal | reply: reason |
/moderation appeal-question add <question> | adds a question to the unban appeal | required: must be answered (default yes), max-length: max answer length (10–1000, default 1000) |
/moderation appeal-question edit <number> | changes a question’s text, required flag or max length | question, required, max-length |
/moderation appeal-question remove <number> | removes a question – with no own questions, the default ones apply | – |
Members can also right-click to Report message and Report user – see Reports.
Common questions#
What does “Revoked on record – Discord did not follow” mean?#
yurna lacks the permission or its role is too low. Check both and lift the sanction in Discord yourself if needed.
Why are bans made in Discord missing from the record?#
yurna needs the “View Audit Log” permission to see actions taken directly in Discord.
Why doesn’t /timeout work?#
You can’t time out bots, yourself or the server owner. Your highest role and yurna’s must be above the member’s highest role.
Can I warn a bot?#
No, bots can’t be warned.
How do I note something the member shouldn’t see?#
Use /member note or the notes in the dashboard – such as “already warned verbally”. No DM is sent.
Case files are included in every plan. Only the number of active escalation steps depends on your plan.
