Reports: members report messages and users
Members report messages or users with a right-click. Your team handles each report with buttons in a channel or in the dashboard.
Reports let every member point out rule violations without having to message moderators directly. Reporting works via right-click; your team gets every report as a message with buttons in a team channel and can handle it there or in the dashboard.
How to set it up#
- Create a channel only your team can see, and allow yurna to view and send messages there.
- Open Dashboard → Moderation → Case files → Settings tab.
- Under Channels, choose the Report channel.
- Keep Reports via right-click enabled (default: on) and save.
Without a report channel the feature isn’t active. Members then see a notice that reports are not set up on this server.
How members report#
- Report a message: right-click the message (on mobile: long-press) → Apps → Report message.
- Report a user: right-click the member → Apps → Report user.
A form then asks for the reason (3 to 1000 characters). Only the reporting person sees the confirmation. For a reported message, yurna saves its content including attachment links at the time of the report – so the evidence stays even if the message is deleted later.
Limits to prevent abuse:
- You can’t report yourself or bots.
- The same thing can only be reported once while the report is open.
- Each member can send at most 10 reports per server within 24 hours.
Handling reports#
In the report channel, every report has these buttons:
- Claim – sets the report to “In progress” and shows who is on it.
- Warn – opens a form with the reason and creates a warning with 1 warning point.
- Timeout – opens a form with duration (prefilled with
60m, at most 28 days) and reason. You need “Moderate Members” for this. - Resolve – closes the report.
- Dismiss – closes the report without action.
Warn and Timeout create a case with the source Report, attach the link to the reported message as evidence and set the report to “Resolved”. On Resolve and Dismiss the reporting person gets a short DM.
Anyone with Moderate Members, Manage Server or Manage Messages can use the buttons.
In the dashboard#
Dashboard → Moderation → Case files → Reports tab lists all reports. The “Open & in progress” view shows what’s left to do. The same actions are available as buttons there (the timeout is fixed at 1 hour here). Open in Discord takes you to the reported message. The Open reports stat at the top of case files shows how many are still waiting.
The member profile also shows which reports exist about a member and which ones they sent themselves.
By command#
/moderation reports list shows open reports. With /moderation reports claim, resolve and reject you claim, resolve or reject a report – Discord suggests matching reports as you type. Set the report channel and switch with /moderation settings (report-channel, reports).
Just like the Warn and Timeout buttons, you can resolve a report with an action right away: /moderation reports resolve <report> action:Warn (with points, 0–100, default 1) or action:Timeout (with duration, e.g. 30m or 1d, default 1 hour; this needs “Moderate Members”). reason is the reason of the new case – leave it out to use the report’s reason. If the action fails in Discord (permissions or role order), the report stays open.
Tips#
- Mention the report feature in your rules – many people don’t know the Apps menu yet.
- Several reports about the same person are a strong signal. Check their record for earlier cases.
Reports are included in every plan without limits.
