Auto nicknames
Nicknames from a template – when someone joins or receives a certain role.
SetupDashboardRolesAutomation
Auto nicknames sets nicknames automatically from your template. New members are recognisable at a glance ([New] Mila) and everyone sees who belongs to the team (🛡 Mila).
In the dashboard#
- Open Auto nicknames in the dashboard (
/dashboard/<server>/auto-nicks). - On join: turn on the switch, enter a template (default
[Neu] {username}) and click Save. - On roles: turn on the switch, use Add rule to pick a role and a template, then click Save. Up to 10 rules are possible.
The preview next to each template shows what your own account would be called.
Placeholders#
| Placeholder | Meaning |
|---|---|
{username} | Discord name (e.g. mila_moon) |
{name} | Global display name (e.g. Mila) |
yurna never uses the server nickname as the base – otherwise prefixes like 🛡 would pile up with every new role.
Rules in detail#
- If someone receives several rule roles at once, the topmost rule wins.
- Remove again when the role is removed: yurna resets the nickname – but only if it is still exactly the one yurna set. If the member still has another rule role, that template applies.
- Nicknames are shortened to 32 characters (Discord limit).
Warning
yurna needs the Manage Nicknames permission and a role above the member’s highest role. yurna never renames the server owner or bots.
